Jamie Boiskin is a Melbourne based performer, writer, producer and proud Menstrual Activist.
Jamie is the creator and performer of the comedy cabaret “Ovariacting: A Period Drama”, a riotous and informative cabaret about periods and Endometriosis.
The show has toured across Australia, performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (2019), Bondi Feast in Sydney (2019) and Fringe at the Edge of the World in Tasmania (2020).
Jamie studied a Bachelor of Arts (Music Theatre) at Federation University graduating in 2017. And whilst studying, Jamie was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2016. As, whilst trying to balance the demands of a 40 + hour study week, Jamie experienced a relentless 35 day period that baffled her gynaecologist.
The inability to discuss periods due to their “taboo” nature infuriated Jamie, who created the show as a way to start the conversation about Women’s Health topics such as Period Stigma, Shame and Endometriosis.
Through the show, Jamie has raised awareness about Endometriosis and plans to continue creating art that encourages others to educate themselves on Endometriosis and share their own journeys.
Jamie was honoured to be the Key Note Speaker for Endometriosis Australia’s Melbourne High Tea in 2019 and looks forward to continuing to work together with Endometriosis Australia to raise awareness and advocate for all Endometriosis sufferers. Jamie is currently undertaking training to become a Pilates Reformer instructor and plans to continue touring her show regionally, and across Australia
